12 rules for life. The number 1 Sunday Times 12 Rules Life Antidote Chaos eBook. Also, International Bestseller from ‘the most influential public intellectual in the Western world right now’ (New York Times)
What are the most valuable things that everyone should know?
Acclaimed clinical psychologist Jordan Peterson has influenced the modern understanding of personality, and now he has become one of the world’s most popular public thinkers, with his lectures on topics from the Bible to romantic relationships to mythology drawing tens of millions of viewers. In an era of unprecedented change and polarising politics, his frank and refreshing message about the value of individual responsibility and ancient wisdom has resonated around the world.
In this book, he provides twelve profound and practical principles for how to live a meaningful life, from setting your house in order before criticising others to comparing yourself to who you were yesterday, not someone else today. Happiness is a pointless goal, he shows us. Instead we must search for meaning, not for its own sake, but as a defence against the suffering that is intrinsic to our existence.
Drawing on vivid examples from the author’s clinical practice and personal life, cutting edge psychology and philosophy, and lessons from humanity’s oldest myths and stories, 12 Rules for Life offers a deeply rewarding antidote to the chaos in our lives: eternal truths applied to our modern problems.

12 Rules Life Antidote Chaos eBook
Review Genuinely extraordinary… Unmatched by any other modern thinker … A prophet for our times (Dominic Sand brook Daily Mail)
The most influential public intellectual in the Western world right now (New York Times)
Everyone must read 12 Rules For Life… The most enlightening book I have read in ages. Google him if you like, if it makes you feel better. It will, by the way. But get the book, that is the most important thing. And then read it. And then pass it on to a friend (Chris Evans)
In a different intellectual league… Peterson can take the most difficult ideas and make them entertaining. This may be why his YouTube videos have had 35m views. He is fast becoming the closest that academia has to a rock star (Observer)
Charismatic and exceptionally articulate…. Peterson is a new kind of public intellectual, using YouTube to spread ideas infinitely wider than predecessors such as Bertrand Russell or Isaiah Berlin (Amol Rajan New Statesman)
Anyone who is in a position of leadership would find it very insightful … Jordan Peterson is a profound writer (Gina Miller)
It is that rare thing: self-help that might actually be helpful (New Statesman)
Fascinating … Peterson is brilliant on many subjects (Bryan Appleyard Sunday Times)
One of the most eclectic and stimulating public intellectuals at large today, fearless and impassioned (Matthew d’Ancona Guardian)
Profound, charismatic and serious… One of the most important thinkers to emerge on the world stage for many years (Tim Lott Spectator)

About the Author
JORDAN B. PETERSON, raised and toughened in the frigid wastelands of Northern Alberta, has flown a hammer-head roll in a carbon-fibre stunt-plane, explored an Arizona meteorite crater with astronauts, and built a Kwagu’l ceremonial big house on the upper floor of his Toronto home after being invited into and named by that Canadian First Nation. He’s taught mythology to lawyers, doctors and business people, consulted for the UN Secretary General, helped his clinical clients manage depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, anxiety, and schizophrenia, served as an adviser to senior partners of major Canadian law firms, and lectured extensively in North America and Europe.

I want to thank Mr Peterson for writing this book.
I may have found myself re-reading certain sentences or paragraphs I struggled to take in, and used my dictionary more regularly than in a game of scrabble as he uses some words I’ve never heard spoken but it was totally worth the read.
I like him a lot (from what I’ve seen on YouTube and his words in this book) and wish him every success as he seems like he truly wants to help us all be better.
This is not a book to attempt at a fast pace. Take your time, digest what he’s trying to get across and you’ll get the most out of it.
It’s a bit like giving up smoking… you have to really want to give up to truly commit. I got to a point this year where I really wanted to make a change and this book offers a highly informed helping hand to set you on the right path.
Prior to this I’d read The Chimp Paradox which I’d also recommend for those who are trying to sort themselves out.

Whether you are a fan of Peterson or not this book will enlighten you one way or another. Either to what he actually thinks about the things he is often erroneously pigeonholed on or to expand on the many themes exalted in his lectures. It may lead you down many more roads, perhaps even change you. 26 people found this helpful

Incredible book – seen as a source of guidance for most. Elaborates on deep axioms we all already know are evident, yet they’re so ill-expressed within general society we don’t even follow them anymore. Will definitely flick some switches and turn some lights on for many people – it already has.

As a journalist, I was particularly interested in Rule 7 — “Tell the truth – or, at least, don’t lie”. I have tried to live that way for years. It is harder than you might think, as it takes a bit of courage not to throw in the odd white lie to save yourself some embarrassment. But I have tried to junk the white lie habit since reading this, and it really works. People usually can take the truth quite well, and they adapt to it in ways you do not expect. So you free them and yourself by being straight. This is a marvellous book. It explains something unexplained in the New Testament — how Jesus’s death atoned for man’s sin, and what that might mean to us today. You don’t have to be a Christian at all to agree with what he says (and he might not be Christian, I don’t know) but you do understand how your life improves by making sacrifices, by giving, by listening and generally by being part of something bigger than yourself. Don’t be put off by the idea that he appeals to the Alt Right. Even the Alt Right like motherhood, apple pie and great books like this one. If you don’t believe in learning by your mistakes or if you think that you are somehow ‘special’ then you won’t get much from ’12 Rules’.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fantastic for everyone

There’s a lot of wisdom in this book and it’s worth reading to actually help you evaluate where your own life could be better. Peterson is a man of phenomenal intellect and one of his skills is in distilling some of that into an enjoyable read. Peterson cuts against the familiar narratives and gets criticism for it (often straw man versions of his arguments or plain ad hominem attacks), but I happen to think he’s right and talks a lot of sense. I’m the mother of a teenage son and think Peterson’s wisdom applies every bit as much to me as to my son. Bestseller for a very good reason.

One of the most insightful and inspiring books I’ve ever read. Jordan Peterson has really helped me work myself out of a very hopeless place and reclaim meaning to my life. An excellent balance of historical research and personal anecdotes, his presentation is wonderfully engaging and leaves a heartwarming sense of personal meaning. An absolutely brilliant thinker.
